Amcal Family Services is always in need of qualified, dedicated professional staff.  Our mission is: to help promote and preserve healthy family relationships, to identify and develop the core values and strengths of the family, and to anticipate and respond to needs in the community. All staff are expected to adhere to and implement the therapeutic modality of the agency, which is a systemic, strengths-based, solution-focused approach.

Positions currently available: family workers, child care workers, Supervised Visitation workers, school-group facilitators. Agency orientation and training are provided.

 

FAMILY WORKER:

Position type: part-time; primarily evening work.

Purpose of the job: The family worker is responsible for offering direct services and intervention to assigned families in difficulty in the Residential, Outreach Family Counselling, and Families First programs.

Professional competencies required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent, Master’s preferred.
  • Eligible or member of “Ordre des travailleurs sociaux du Québec.”
  • Knowledge of family dynamics and experience working in a clinical setting with both families and adolescents.

Clinical supervision and attendance at family work team meetings are required.

Must possess a valid driver’s licence and car; be available to engage in home-based sessions.

CHILD CARE WORKER:

Position type: part-time and on-call; evening shift work.

Purpose of the job: The child care worker is responsible for providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in the Residential Program.

Professional competencies required:

  • Minimum CEGEP Diploma in Special Care Counselling or related field.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with adolescents.

Facilitation of skill-building groups for teens, and attendance at Residential Program team meetings, are required.

SUPERVISED VISITATION WORKER/MONITOR:

Position type: part-time and on-call; evenings and week-end work.

Purpose of the job: The Visitation Supervisor/monitor is responsible for supervising visits between parents and children who are in foster care, or whose families are dealing with custody and visitation issues.

Professional competencies required:

  • CEGEP Diploma in related work preferred.
  • Experience working with families, children and their parents

Must ensure the safety of the children involved in the visits, and appear in court when subpoenaed.

Attendance at Supervised Visitation Program team meetings is required.

GROUP FACILITATOR, SCHOOL-BASED SERVICES:

Position type: full-time (contract: school year)

Purpose of the job: The group facilitator is responsible for animating skill-building groups in the School-Based Program, and must be able to work with students from Kindergarten to Grade 11.

Professional competencies required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years’ experience facilitating groups in a school setting or group home.Must attend School-based team meetings/individual supervision as required.

Must possess a valid driver’s licence and car; be available to travel to and from all assigned schools.

General COMPETENCIES required for ALL positions:

  • Animated, energetic, self-confident.
  • Reliable, flexible, and patient; dynamic and accountable.
  • Strong under pressure, able to work independently.
  • Organizational, time management and observation skills; punctual.
  • Team player, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Communication skills (both written and spoken) — diplomatic, with good telephone and listening skills.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, Windows, Outlook.

Expected RESULTS for ALL positions:

 

Complete all database entries and paperwork assignments by the designated deadlines. Conduct yourself with the optimal level of professionalism, and in accordance with the agency’s therapeutic modality and culture of accountability, professional reflection, and ongoing program evaluation.
