CLSC-FAMILIES FIRST PROGRAM PRIORITE JEUNESSE Public Health Prevention Program

The Families First Program is designed to provide short-term intervention for children who are experiencing behavioral problems at school which may be related to family issues.
We work in conjunction with the family and the school, to identify the needs of the family in relation to their child’s emotional and academic success.
The service includes:

Home-based family counselling on a weekly basis.

Liaison between the school and the family.
-
Classroom observations.
-
Facilitation of connections with relevant community resources when appropriate.

Parent workshops in designated schools.
Who is the service intended for? The program is offered to families and students from Kindergarten to grade 6, ONLY for schools within the CLSC Pierrefonds territory.
Duration We offer ten family sessions.
Where will the sessions take place? At the family’s home and/or at the school.
Cost Service fee is provided by a grant from the CLSC Pierrefonds, for schools identified within the defined CLSC Pierrefonds territory.

CLSC-SOCIAL SKILLS BUILDING PROGRAMS PRIORITE JEUNESSE Public Health Prevention Program

This program is offered in conjunction with the CLSC Pierrefonds. This special grant allows Amcal Family Services to offer schools in the designated area several social skills-building workshops.
These programs incorporate a social-emotional learning approach designed to help children build more positive peer relationships, increase positive character traits, make more appropriate decisions, and develop more effective strategies for dealing with situations.
Who is the program intended for? The program is offered to elementary schools identified within the defined CLSC Pierrefonds territory.
What programs are offered? The following programs are presently being offered, and can be adapted to fit the needs of your school or organization:

Making Friends – Staying Friends – K, Grades 1& 2 (six sessions of ½ hour).

Social Skills Building Program– Grades 4, 5 & 6 (six sessions of one hour).
Where will the sessions take place? Schools identified within the defined CLSC Pierrefonds territory.

Amcal offers elementary schools in the Montreal area a number of highly-structured programs in the area of preventative services.
These programs incorporate a social-emotional learning approach designed to help children build more positive peer relationships, increase positive character traits, make appropriate decisions, and develop more effective strategies for dealing with situations.
What programs are offered? The following programs are presently being offered, and can be adapted to fit the needs of your school or organization:

Anger Management/Conflict Resolution & Character Develpment Program: for adolescents aged 12-17 yrs. (eight sessions of 1.5 hrs.--for a minimum of six & a maximum of eight participants).

Children of Divorce Groups- either for children aged 8-11 yrs. or adolescents aged 12-15 yrs. (eight sessions of 1.5 hrs.--for 6-8 participants).
Parents Workshops Workshops are offered on various topics, in response to the needs identified, to encourage parents to continue new strategies at home. Please contact us for further information.
